New Zealand's Sharn Wordley, riding Brin d’or de Haute Melen Z, has secured his first-ever victory in a Longines FEI Jumping World Cup class. In Puebla, Mexico, he was the sole rider to complete the course without fault. This meant the winner was decided without a jump-off, as reported by the FEI in their announcement on October 4, 2026.
Swail and Pidutti Hortas Complete the Podium
Ireland's Conor Swail claimed second place with Casturano. The pair finished with 4 faults in 80.77 seconds. Argentina's Juan Bautista Pidutti Hortas secured third aboard Ninvaro PS, also incurring 4 faults, in a time of 80.94 seconds.
The technically demanding course presented several challenges to the field. Faults were predominantly seen at a combination featuring water trays beneath the fences, a white plank, and a narrow vertical jump just before the finish line. For Swail, it was the plank that fell. Pidutti Hortas saw his chance for a clear round vanish at the final oxer.
Debut at 1.60m for the Pair
Wordley was the sixth rider to enter the arena. He has been riding Brin d’or de Haute Melen Z for four years. In Puebla, the pair made their debut together at the World Cup height of 1.60 meters – and immediately claimed victory.
In the North American League of the World Cup, Wordley now shares the top spot with Beat Mändli, both accumulating 20 points. The next stop on the circuit is Washington, USA, on October 24, 2026.
