MIM clips for frangible cross-country fences are set to become more affordable per piece for event organizers. Additionally, MIMsafe is working on reusable clips and exploring further solutions for smaller obstacles. The British equestrian magazine Horse & Hound reports on these developments. They were presented by Chris Edwards, MIM founder Mats Björnetun, and course designer Stuart Buntine on October 1, 2026, in Osberton.

More Clips for the Same Package Price

The price of a box is expected to remain the same, but its contents will increase. This will be made possible through material savings and smaller clips, allowing for more units to be produced in a single production run. Furthermore, a new distribution structure in the Southern Hemisphere aims to reduce costs for customs and transport.

The clips used until now are single-use only. The team has already conducted internal tests for a reusable version. Further tests are evaluating weather resistance, including salt spray tests.

Technology for Smaller Obstacles

Edwards and his colleagues also demonstrated how existing technology can be adapted for smaller jumps. Examples included a 65-centimeter-high log and an 80-centimeter-high jump with a rounded top. This requires different dimensions and geometry.

Additionally, the team is investigating whether clips specifically developed for small obstacles would be more suitable. This development is still in its early stages. New designs must undergo the testing and approval process of the FEI (International Equestrian Federation) before they can be used in competition.
