Cooley Iceage has resumed jumping training at home following a severe knee injury. This was reported by the British equestrian magazine Horse & Hound. The eight-year-old gelding, ridden by Laura Collett, sustained the injury during cross-country training in early July 2026. After his period of rest, he is now set to be prepared for the 2027 season.

Cross-Country Accident

According to Horse & Hound, Cooley Iceage stumbled into water after jumping a log on the cross-country course, sustaining a severe laceration to his knee. The magazine reported that he remained at Donnington Grove Equine Vets for twelve days. Gravel was embedded in the wound, and according to the report, two procedures were required to remove it. Collett stated that a joint infection was avoided.

The rider reported that the gelding had grown physically stronger during his recovery period. Following his return to jumping training, she expressed confidence.

Successes at Cornbury and Bicton

In September 2025, Cooley Iceage and Collett won the British Seven-Year-Old Championship at Cornbury. Before his injury, in 2026, he placed second twice in open Intermediate classes, according to Horse & Hound. In May 2026, he also secured third place in the CCI3*-L at Bicton, as reported by the magazine.

Collett had considered moving him up to Advanced level. The short four-star class for eight and nine-year-old horses at Blenheim was also a possibility. This could now be a target for 2027. Cooley Iceage is expected to remain in work throughout the winter, with a short break being a possibility.
