Description
Rare but true, you can also find a gelding on Menorca, since traditionally we only ride stallions ;)
So this purebred Menorquin, born in 2012, is a rarity as a gelding and has a lot to offer.
Apart from his breed-typical brave and relaxed nature, he has a lot to offer under saddle and is ridden by a teenager.
He is very flexible and fine, which means he can be ridden superbly through the seat, but at the same time he also forgives mistakes if you are unclear. He performs lateral movements as fluidly as if going straight. In the counter canter, he keeps the rhythm as in the canter. Walk-canter-walk transitions he does as if it were the most normal thing in the world. From the canter or trot extension, you only sit a little deeper in the saddle and he goes into the working rhythm. Flying changes have been started and are working better and better. Since he has mainly been going out into the countryside for months due to the heatwave, the balance for flying changes will also work better when he builds up more muscle again. But due to the exceptional temperatures, he is only exercised gently.
He is the ideal mix of work and relaxation! Leg on and the engine starts and you don't have to push him a single step. Leg "off", immediately into relaxation and he strolls comfortably on a long rein.
He lives 24/7 outside on his paddock with an electric fence, ignores the mare next door who likes to threaten him in an Olympic manner and honors her with at most a questioning look. An absolutely calm horse, with a very clear head, a high work ethic and a unique character that forgives mistakes and is therefore ideal, even for rather inexperienced riders who still want to learn something themselves.
In the countryside he is reliable, also in hand, because the riding arena is a bit far away and he is always led there. While riding, the automatic sprinkler system suddenly went off and the only one who wasn't startled was him :D He just continued normally in canter and in a calm rhythm. He is gently warmed up at a walk on a long rein and regular walking breaks are taken during training, where he is praised diligently - and rightly so.
Experienced riders will also have fun, because he learns incredibly quickly, such as the Spanish walk and passage, which have been started and can certainly be easily retrieved from his memory, as clever as this treasure is.
If you don't just like riding, you can drive him in a carriage, because he also has that in his repertoire.
In handling, he is equally a well-behaved gentleman! He offers his hooves by himself, lets himself be groomed and braided by several people at the same time from all sides. He seems much larger, but measures "only" 159 cm at the withers.
His owners take very loving care of him and a loving place is desired again, where he is part of the family, just like now. During the extreme heat, the family members take turns and the horses are hosed down in the morning, at noon during the lunch break (instead of the owners eating!) and in the evening. He is lovingly cared for all around and all horses are part of the family. Since the daughter is very dressage-ambitious and his son is a bit better suited for it, a 5* home is now being sought! Because he stands outside in the strong summer sun, naturally with more than enough shade, he is currently quite faded, but will become beautifully black again.
An all-around great horse, with a heart of gold, that wants to beat in harmony with yours.
