Special Leisure Mare for Trail Riding, Ground Work & Liberty Work
Holsteiner Mix, mare, 6 Years, 164 cm, Bay
€4,500 · Negotiable · Achstetten

Description
Montana, born on June 20, 2020, is an approximately 163 cm tall Spanish x Holsteiner mare who was born with us and raised with a lot of love. Originally, she was intended as a jumper and was to be promoted in sports. However, due to a small muscular issue, we have taken her out of sports and are now looking for a home where she can live out her strengths as a versatile leisure and trail horse.
Montana has been examined by several veterinarians multiple times. She is free of lameness, moves completely inconspicuously on the lunge line, and according to veterinary assessment, she can easily grow old as a leisure horse. Only in tight turns does she lack the necessary strength to adequately carry the load due to the muscular issue. She shows a slight reaction during the flexion test. According to veterinary assessment, this is not a problem for a leisure rider who treats her according to her physical capabilities. Therefore, she is not suitable for sports or demanding jumping.
Her great strength clearly lies in trail riding and versatile ground work. Montana loves outings and is already used to a lot. For example, I have ridden her through a drive-in, to an ice cream parlor in town, and of course to the water—she especially loves water. She is curious, eager to move, and has good work motivation.
Montana also brings a lot to ground work and liberty work. She masters, among other things, lateral movements, circling at liberty, Spanish walk, rearing, and lying down on command, and performs these exercises partly at liberty. Anyone who enjoys working with their horse and engaging in activities away from the classic riding arena will have a lot of fun with her.
Character-wise, Montana is a fine, sensitive mare who is very devoted to her person. She builds a close bond and enjoys working with her human. She is expressly not a children's, beginner's, or school horse.
Currently, Montana lives with me in a box with a paddock and goes out to pasture during the day in a small mixed group. There, she is rather low in the hierarchy, likes to stick with a steady friend, and follows him. I can also very well imagine her being kept in an open stable.
Montana's mother is a Spanish mare with a high proportion of Carthusian blood and is still with us, currently with a foal at foot. Her father is UNO I from the Main and State Stud Marbach (Holsteiner). Montana has a normal equine passport, but without registered parentage.
I am selling Montana solely because I want to focus more on show jumping in terms of time and riding in the future and unfortunately can no longer give her the time she deserves. It is especially important to me to find a home for her where she is loved, understood, and kept versatilely occupied according to her abilities.
For a viewing appointment, I charge €45, which will of course be fully deducted from the purchase price if a purchase follows. I ask for your understanding for this, as I want to take enough time for each interested party and present Montana calmly.
A suitable, long-term home is sought for a special leisure partner—preferably for an experienced trail rider or someone who enjoys ground and liberty work. No sports use, no school horse, and no beginner horse.
